Thursday 9/16
We will depart from the Buffalo Airport in the afternoon.  In the evening we will board an overnight flight to Europe.

Friday 9/17
This morning we arrive in
Krakow, Poland
and are met by our private luxury motor coach for transfer to our moderate first class City Center Hotel. The afternoon is free to relax in your room or to explore one of Europe's best-preserverd medieval cities on your own.

 

 
On our first evening in Krakow we will be treated to a
Traditonal Polish Dinner.
After dinner we will attend a
Polish vodka tasting.
Where we will taste five different Polish vodkas, sample traditional polish sausages and pickles. Then we'll also learn a bit about the history of vodka in Poland. As a bonus you will receive a souvenir "Polish Vodka" T-shirt.

Saturday September 18
A free day to spend in and around the beautiful city of Krakow.
As an option, you can take a day trip to Auschwitz, the largest concentration during World War II. It is a symbol of terror, genocide and the Holocaust for millions of Jews, Poles and Gypsies.
Krakow Pub Crawl - This will be our last night in Krakow and it is rumored that Krakow has more drinking places per square meter than any other city in Europe.

Sunday September 19
The entire day is free to explore Krakow on your own. Go shopping at the Rynek Glowny (Main Market Square), one of Europe's largest market squares. Visit Wawel Castle, Wawel Cathedral or the Basilica of the Virgin Mary. You could also take in one of the great tours availible: The Ghetto and Oskar Shindler's Factory tour; The Old Town and Jewish Quarter tour or the Wieliczka Salt Mine tour.
In the evening we will board the train for our overnight trip to Prague. You will have a sleeper compartment and there will be a buffet car. However it is quite customary to bring your own food and drink on the train.
Monday September 20

Prague, Czech Republic
We will arive at the Praha Nadrazi train station in the morning and transfer to our City Center Hotel. Where we will store our luggage until check-in.
Best of Prague Tour - Since the fall of the Iron Curtain, Prague has beecome Europe's most popular tourist destination. This city tour will get us acquainted with the historical part of town. We will see Wenceslaus Square and Prague Castle. We will visit Lesser Town, the mazy streets of Old town and the Jewish Quarter with it's tragic history. After lunch (not included) we will take a boat ride on the Vlatava River and under the Charles Bridge.

After we check-in to our hotel, the evening is free for you to explore one of Europe's most beautiful cities on your own. One option is to take an evening Folklore Tour; You will visit a typical Prague tavern, eat traditional specialties' of the Czech cusine, and enjoy folk music, songs and dances.

Tuesday September 21
Today is a free day for you to explore Prague on your own.
Spend some time on the 600 year old Charles Bridge with it's continous alley of Baroque-style statues. Stroll through Mala Strana (Lesser Town) and explore the quirky galleries, shops & cafes. Have a few drinks at the Letna beer garden enjoying the backdop of the Old Town spires. Take a bicycle or segway tour, visit a Bohemian glass factory or take a relaxing river cruise.
Tuesday (Evening)

Prague Pub Crawl
It is our last evening in Prague and we will take the oppurtunity to frequent a few of her local pubs.
The Czech Republic is the No.1 Beer Drinking Nation
on the planet and the beer is world famous. The best known Czech beer is the original pils beer,
Pilsner Urquell.
Beer is served almost everywhere in Prague, even in breakfast cafes. It tastes terrific and it is cheap.
Unsuprisingly, there are more than 800 pubs to choose from and a few have exisited for centuries.
Wednesday September 22

Munich, Germany
After breakfast we board our private luxury motor coach for a scenic ride through the Czech Republic and Bavaria, Germany.
In the afternoon we will arrive at our Munich city hotel.
You should have some time to begin to explore this fasinating city,
and there is plenty to see. Not to be missed is the
Glockenspiel am Rathausturm in the Marienplatz
and the Viktualienmarkt (victuals or food market).
However, you may also want to visit the BMW Museum, the English Gardens, the Olympic Stadium or the Nymphenburg Palace. The evening is also free for you to enjoy a hearty bavarian dinner on your own. After dinner you may want to check out the lively Munich nightlife, maybe spend some time at the world famous Hofbrauhaus.
If your adventuress, you may want to head over to the
"Wiesn" fairgrounds for a sneak peak at Oktoberfest.

Thursday September 23

Oktoberfest
This morning we head over to the raging party
that is the famous (or infamous!) Octoberfest!
The original event took place on October 18, 1810: For the commemoration of the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig (later King Ludwig I) and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen (namesake of the Theresienwiese)

We will have a reserved table at one of 14 beer tents during an afternoon seating. Five hours of beer and traditional bavarian music, included with our reservation you may have 2 Litres (Mass) of beer and 1/2 of roasted chicken or equivalent.
After our session, the rest of the day is at your leisure and you can certainly continue the celebration in one of the many other large beer tents in the Wiesn. Entrance to all of the tents is free, but keep in mind that you need to be seated to get served and that getting in is much easier in small groups. There are also many smaller tents and stands that serve beer and food and there are also many unique rides and games to enjoy.

Friday September 24
"Mad" King Ludwig's Castles Tour
This morning we take a scenic 90 minute drive to
The Castle Schloss Neuschwanstein
This Castle was the inspiration for Walt
Disney's "Sleeping Beauty's castle" in Disneyland. Mad Ludwig's Dream Castle is Perched over one of Europe's prettiest gorges. The neo-romantic style structure is one of the most beautiful and famous castles in the whole world.
The Next stop is Oberammergau.
This quaint village is known for its woodcarving and for the paintings on its houses. There are many fine examples here: (the Pilatus - the Hänsel and Gretel House, and Rotkäppchen - Little Red Riding Hood's House).
On our way back to Munich, we will stop at Andechs Monastery and Brewery. Here you can enjoy a hearty meal in a beautiful setting amidst two picturesque lakes. You will also be able to sample, what some consider
to be; "The best beer in Germany".
Our last evening in Munich is free and an excellent chance to get out and check out more of the city. Of course if you'd prefer you're free to spend another evening celebrating in the beerhalls.
Saturday September 25
This morning we check out of our hotel and board our coach for transfer to the Munich Airport. A morning departure from Munich and an afternoon arrival in Buffalo.

Oktoberfest Facts
The Oktoberfest takes place during the 16 days up to and including the first Sunday in October.
In 2008, 6.8 Million people attended the biggest fair in the world, There are 14 main tents at the Oktoberfest. The tents are non-permanent structures which are constructed for and only used during the festival. Each tent seats between 3,000 and 10,000 people Total seating is available for 100,000 people.
The six breweries, (Spaten, Augustiner, Paulaner, Hacker-Pschorr, Hofbräu, Löwenbräu) served 7.2 million litres of beer. Over 12,000 people are employed at the Oktoberfest. Of these, 1600 are waitresses (Barmaids). 104 Roasted Oxen, 521,872 Roasted Chickens and 219,884 Pork Sausages were consumed. 1,800 toilets and urinals were available and over 2.2 million pounds of refuse was collected.
