Monday August 30

We Arrive in Brussels, Belgium at 7:30 AM. After clearing Customs we board our private motor coach for a short tour of this historic city. In the afternoon we will be able to check in to our City Center first class hotel. Today is a free day and you could easily just spend the day relaxing in this beautiful setting, but you will want to get out and explore Brussels with it’s classic architecture and superb museums, then enjoy some of it’s world class cuisine.

Tuesday August 31

Today is also a free day. You very well may want to take a day trip to Bruges. This coastal city is called the “Venice of the North” for its famous canals and 16th century houses. Visit the Straffe Hendrik Brewery; Founded in 1856, this home brewery is the only family brewery that is still active in the center of Bruges, Brewers of Brugse Zot (Bruges Lunatic), or visit the De Gouden Boom Brewery. Beer has been brewed here since 1455. Gouden Boom now brews Brugge Tripel, Brugge Blond and 2 abbey beers: Steenbrugge Dubel and Tripel.

Wednesday September 1
This morning we board our private luxury motor coach for the two and a half hour ride to Koblenz, Germany, where we check into our moderate class hotel. This historic city is situated on both banks of the Rhine at its confluence with the Moselle River. In 55 BC Roman Legions commanded by Julius Caesar established a military post here and early fortifications date back to about 1,000 BC. The Königsbacher Brewery has been brewing beer at the Old Brewery in the City Center since 1689. There are also many Castles in the area that are worth exploring; Castle Stolzenfelsand Cochem Castleare two of the more popular ones. The evening is free for you to explore this charming city.
Thursday September 2

We check out of our hotel and board the paddle steamer “DS Goethe”. The Goethe is the very last and only paddle steamer on the Rhine. It is also the largest steamer with side paddles in the world. We will then Sail through romantic valleys, past medieval castles, magnificent vineyards and the legendary Loreley Rock on our way to our destination; the lovely little winemaking town of Rüdesheim am Rhein. After we check in to our moderate class hotel, you should have plenty of time to explore this quaint little village. Take a gondola ride to the Niederwald monument and enjoy the majestic views or stroll down the Drosselgasse, in the heart of Rüdesheim 's old town enjoying the shops and the local entertainment then stop in a sidewalk café and enjoy a glass of Rheingauer Riesling the popular local wine.
Friday September 3

This afternoon we make our way by coach to the city of Bamberg, Germany. Bamberg has been called "Beer City" and is best known for Rauchbier (or smoked beer). The most famous is Schlenkerla's Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier from the Heller brewery; it can be enjoyed at the Schlenkerla tavern in the old town. Bamberg is currently home to eight traditional breweries (Brauerei Fassla, Brauerei Griefenklau, Brauerei Heller-Trum, Brauerei Kaiserdom, Brauerei Keesmann Brau, Klosterbrau, Mahrs Brau and Brauerei Spezial) an unussually high number for a city of 70,000. We hope to tour at least on of these fine brewies. We will then spen the evening in one of the many rural Brauerei gasthof's (brewery guesthouse) where we will enjoy traditonal German hospitality and an authentic Bavarian dinner.
Saturday September 4
This morning we board our coach and travel in to the Czech Republic to the town of Zatec where we will attend the Hops Harvest Festival. The festival is organized by the royal city of Zatec and was first mentioned in writing over a thousand years ago. Today the festival takes place mainly in the Liberty Square. Music is played; beer-drinking contest and hop-picking competitions are part of the event. Dancing with a mug a beer on the head is a crowd favorite.
Sunday September 5, 2010

Since the fall of the Iron Curtain, Prague has become Europe's most popular tourist destination and you have the entire day to explore it. It would be a good time to take the “Best of Prague Tour”. This tour will take in Prague Castle, the Lesser Town (Mala Strana), the mazy streets of Old Town and the Jewish Quarter with its tragic history. An option for this evening may be the “Folklore Tour”. You will visit a typical Prague tavern, eat traditional specialties’ of the Czech cuisine, and enjoy folk-music, songs and dances. Or just enjoy some of the almost 800 pubs in Prague on your own, a few of these pubs have existed for centuries.
Monday September 6, 2010 (Labor Day)
